Caterwaul

Arrow 1) to make a harsh cry

Arrow 2) to quarrel noisily

Do any of your cats have an issue with caterwauling? My cat Purr surely does. Purr is 9 years old, and is spayed. Purr carries around an old, beat up yellow and white striped catnip sock (a.k.a. "Sockie") when she's caterwauling. Purr generally starts to caterwaul with 3 scenerios.

The first is I shower in the morning. She knows where I'm at, because she sees me go into the bathroom. Maybe she thinks I might be drowning in the water. Who knows?

The second is when I leave for work in the morning. I think she's doing it because she knows I'm leaving and I'll be gone for several hours. I don't think she's doing it because she'll be alone in the house, because she did the same thing when Blaze was alive.

The third is in the evening right after I go to bed. My line of thinking is she's mad I went to bed, and she wanted additional attention, so she starts caterwauling. Or perhaps she's not ready to go to bed yet herself, even though I'm ready. Most of the time I ignore it, but sometimes I'll get up, yell at her, and/or grab her and put her on the bed with me to shut her up.

My cat also likes caterwauling. He does it when:
1) I go to the bathroom in the morning and doesn't let him in
2) when he wants to eat and sees me taking meat out of refrigerator (may be he thinks I will forget about him and reminds me he is by my side Laughing )
3) for no particular reason. Sometimes in the evening he begins caterwauling in such a low and terrible voice that I feel myself like being in a jungle.

Sometimes I think Purr caterwauls just because she can. I had to tell her to be quiet twice this morning because she was getting too loud. Confused

Sam caterwauls at night. While we are sleeping. If he wakes us, we say, "SHHHHHHH, Sam!"
Cwazy kitties.

It is funyn because my one siamese cat will go into the basement and have these really deep throat meows and when I call him he comes running up the stairs with a happy meow. Laughing
