Purr, my 12 year old tabby cat, abruptly became very ill Tuesday night. I had to have her put to sleep Wednesday.

Thanks, everyone.
Sam had his 19th birthday on April 15th.
We've had him an "extra" 5 months now, which is great and more than I expected.
He's not doing too well lately. Sigh.
The downs and the ups and the meds and the vet...
The emotional roller coaster, as it seems like now he's really dying,...no, he's better, no... tearing me up.

So, he is eating and drinking water, a and walking, even up and down the stairs once or twice a day. He's camped out with me in my king size bed, for a few weeks now. I have even given him the night table side for his water.

That's the update.
Glad I finally found my way back here, I've been trying. Thanks, JM, for the link.

i took her to the vet and she increased my puppy's daily dosage of glucosamine and also gave her a perscription of muscle relaxants for when she goes out and plays hard.

she's actually doing much better. she comes on weekly 5-6 mile hikes in the moutains and goes swimming in the lake again. she's still a little sore but she's much happier.

You'll know when she no longer has any quality of life...if she's still eating well...enjoying interaction with you...

I don't know of any specific products to make her sore joints or muscles feel better...perhaps your vet may have some ideas...

my "puppy" is getting on in her years (13 now) and is really starting to show her age.

when she comes back from a trip to the lake she's very very sore (either her joints or her muscles don't know) and whimps when she walks and has a terrible time going up and down stairs. its very sad.

i don't know if she'll be around come this time next year.

i'm wondering when is it time? and also... what can be done to make her more comfortable when she's feeling sore.

I haven't found any updates yet. The Meriden Humane Society doesn't seem to have a website. And there haven't been any further stories other than the initial report on the wire. I'll check again in a few days and post back if I find something.

so i have a little bowl at work with some bamboo in it and a beta swimming around. so now i'm wondering if there are any other fish that i can add to this bowl.

does anyone have any knowledge of fish that don't require oxygenated water like Betas?

i know that 2 betas don't get along in a small space so i don't want to get another one of those.
